A new partnership between US-based Carolinas Health System’s MedCenter Air and Air Ambulance Card will provide air ambulance transports for members who sign up with MedCenter Air.
Under special circumstances, African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) Flying Doctors provides a charity evacuation service to evacuate patients in a serious medical condition free of charge. In March, one such operation had to be initiated to retrieve a patient who had been attacked by a crocodile. Flight nurse Joel Cheluguy described the mission.
A twin-engine Piper Navajo air ambulance plane owned by Trans North Aviation crashed on 28 November, killing three of the five people onboard. Among the fatalities was the patient, an 80-year-old man who was being flown to the Chicago area.
