French air ambulance company Medic’Air International now has a dedicated air ambulance based in Paris le Bourget airport, France. The aircraft is on permanent alert and ready for take-off in less than two hours for any emergency mission or scheduled repatriation flight in Europe and Mediterranean area, said the company.
Medic’Air selected a Beech King Air 1900C, a twin-turbine turboprop plane, which can be configured to carry four ICU stretchers and six sitting passengers, or three stretchers and nine passengers. Medic’Air quote a maximum cruise speed of 496 km/h and a maximum range of 2,504 km.
Registered in France, the plane boasts an English and French-speaking medical team, including a physician and a flight nurse. Equipment includes ‘Spectrum stretchers with a reclining back seat and six-point safety belt, four oxygen cylinders of 3,200 litres each, Baxter suspension tags for patient on stretcher and seating, bridge over stretcher for medical devices, two independent inverters for domestic electric power (220 V, 50 Hz), air under 50 psi for paediatric requirement, vacuum plug, toilets, washbasin, safety garbage can and nursing work surface, available seats for relatives, large baggage hold, two access doors including a large cargo door, a loading system to board patients safely, and a regular disinfection process’.
