Fire helicopter crash injures three
A Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department helicopter crashed in fog recently, injuring the three personnel onboard. The helicopter is believed to have been monitoring traffic on the East Coast Expressway when the accident occurred. According to an eyewitness report, the aircraft span before crash landing in a rubber tree estate near the town of Lanchang. Asst Comm. Ahmad Fadzilla Mohamed of the local police force identified the injured men as Captain Roslan Aziz, quartermaster Asrul Mohd Nordin, and co-pilot Khairil Azuan Jamalludin. Speaking after the crash, he said: “Captain Roslan has serious neck injuries, while Asrul and Kairil Azuan suffered minor injuries. They were sent to the Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital.” Explaining the cause of the crash, Asst Comm. Ahmad Fadzilla said: “There was a heavy blanket of fog at the time and the helicopter was descending. It hit some rubber trees, causing the pilot to lose control, before landing on its side.”
The Government has ordered an investigation into the incident.
