Having returned from deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, US medevac pilot Chief Warrant Officer William ‘Scott’ Anderson has made his bid for fame by appearing on television show America’s got talent. Anderson, a member of the Oregon National Guard, is an amateur magician who used his skills to lift the spirits of locals and fellow service members during his recent tours. Now, he is amazing the US public with his illusions. During the show, an interview with Anderson sees him explain that 75 per cent of the transports her performed were for injured children. He describes how he would perform magic tricks to try to bring smiles to the faces of these innocent young faces. Performing in Portland on stage in front of the audience and a panel of celebrity judges, Anderson, dressed in camouflage fatigues, places a woman inside box, which he proceeds to fold and pierce dramatically with three large swords. Unfolding the box, the woman emerges unharmed; the trick earned Anderson the judges’ praise and a place in the second round of the show in Las Vegas.
